Patient Care Instructions
Follow these guidelines for a safe and speedy recovery.
PRE-OP
Pre-Op Instructions Before Dental Procedure
Meals & Fasting
- •Have your meals before coming in for general dental treatment.
- •For Nitrous Oxide Sedation (NOS): Remain on an empty stomach for 4 hours prior to the appointment.
Medical Requirements
- •Provide a complete and accurate medical history.
- •Carry all medical reports and signed consent forms.
- •Take your regular medications on time as prescribed by your physician.
POST-OP
Post-Op: Tooth Extraction, Implant Placement & Surgery
Immediate Care (First 24 Hours)
- •Keep the cotton ball pressed firmly for 1 hour. Do not replace it.
- •Eat a cup ice-cream (without nuts) 1 hour after the procedure.
- •Apply an ice pack intermittently (1 min on/1 min off) 4–5 times a day.
- •Do not spit or rinse until the next day to prevent bleeding.
- •Avoid smoking and alcohol consumption.
Diet & Sensation
- •Wait 2 hours before consuming room-temperature meals/drinks.
- •Avoid chewing or biting until anesthesia wears off completely.
- •Consume soft, cold, and non-spicy food for the rest of the day.
Medications & Oral Hygiene
- •Take all prescribed medications on time.
- •Resume blood thinners after 2 days (unless told otherwise).
- •No brushing on the surgery day. Use gentle brushing for 2 days; resume regular brushing on day 3.
- •If sutures were placed, return for removal after 7 days.

POST-OP
Post-Op: Root Canal, Fillings & Crown Cementation
Eating & Sensation
- •Wait at least one hour after treatment before eating.
- •Avoid chewing on the treated side until numbness has completely worn off.
- •Avoid biting hard substances like ice, fingernails, or pencils.
- •Avoid sticky foods if a crown (cap) has been placed.
Maintenance & Adjustments
- •If the crown or bridge feels 'high' or uncomfortable, report to the clinic for adjustment.
- •Small wear of temporary fillings is normal. If the whole filling/crown falls out, contact us.
- •Complete the full course of antibiotics if prescribed.

Medications & Topical Care
- •Tab. Celin 500 mg (Take 1 daily for 3 months).
- •Colgate Ortho Phosflur Mouthwash (Use 1-0-1 for local application).
- •Gel Rexidin M Forte (Apply locally to sore areas as advised).
Dietary Restrictions
- •Avoid hard/crunchy foods: Nuts, popcorn, ice, hard candies, crusty bread.
- •Avoid sticky foods: Chewing gum, caramel, chikki, gummy candies.
- •Cut raw fruits and vegetables into small pieces before eating.
POST-OP
Post-Op: Denture Insertion
Wear & Follow-up
- •Wear dentures continuously for the first 24 hours.
- •Report to the clinic after 24–36 hours for a follow-up/adjustment.
Daily Use & Hygiene
- •Remove dentures at night to maintain healthy gums.
- •Clean using only water and a toothbrush. Avoid soap or detergent.
- •Store in a box with water when not in use.
- •Use denture cleaning powder/tablets once a week.
Eating Guidelines
- •Start with soft foods and liquids.
- •When eating solids, place food on both sides of the mouth to prevent lifting.
POST-OP
Post-Op: Scaling & Polishing (Cleaning)
Immediate Care
- •Avoid extremely hot or cold food and beverages immediately after.
- •Daily activities can be resumed immediately; no day off is required.
Sensitivity Management
- •Temporary sensitivity and feeling 'gaps' between teeth is normal after tartar removal.
- •Use desensitizing paste or gel as prescribed.
- •Rinse with lukewarm salt water 2–3 times daily.

- •Perform intraoral scanning and provide 3D model for printing.
- •Capture intraoral and extraoral pre-treatment photographs.
- •Take necessary X-rays. OPG first for bone health, followed by CBCT if required.
Medical & Pre-Surgical
- •Review medical history (Anticoagulants / Hypoglycemics).
- •Check random blood pressure and blood sugar levels.
- •Request required blood tests and Physician Medical Fitness form.
- •Ensure both types of Local Anesthesia (with/without adrenaline) are ready.

- •Explain NOS (Sedation) and 3D printing benefits.
